The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Armstrong County in west central Pennsylvania…
Clarion County in west central Pennsylvania…

* Until 930 PM EDT.

* At 632 PM EDT, radar indicated continuing heavy rain across the
warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash
flooding is underway in Kittanning.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Clarion, Vandergrift, Kittanning, Knox, Rimersburg, Ford City,
Leechburg, Freeport, New Bethlehem, West Kittanning, North Apollo
and West Leechburg.

This includes Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 47
and 72.

…THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM EDT FOR
SOUTH CENTRAL WESTMORELAND AND NORTHEASTERN FAYETTE COUNTIES…

At 555 PM EDT, radar indicated that heavy rain had tapered off
although more showers will move through. Another quarter to half
inch of rain is expected. 1.5 to 2.5 inches is estimated to
have fallen.

Some locations that may experience flooding include…
Connellsville, Mount Pleasant, Scottdale, South Connellsville,
Everson, Vanderbilt, Dawson, Donegal, Normalville and Acme.

This includes Pennsylvania Turnpike near mile marker 85, and between
mile
markers 87 and 91.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

…THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM EDT FOR
CENTRAL FAYETTE COUNTY…

At 514 PM EDT, radar indicated the heaviest rain had moved out of
the warned area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain is estimated to have
fallen. Runoff from this rain will continue for several
hours.

Some locations that may experience minor flooding include…
Uniontown, Connellsville, South Connellsville, Fairchance, Dunbar,
Vanderbilt and Chalkhill.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
